ILUMINAR’s Vertical DE fixture is the newest ‘Old School’ tech idea there is, enabling growers to re-think the shape of their gardens with this DCP (Deep Canopy Penetration) capability. Taller plants with more branched canopies have very different lighting needs to shorter broader canopy plants; if light doesn’t break the initial canopy layers at the top – you stand to lose yields in your branched canopies below – this is where vertical ‘inter-canopy’ lighting steps in. 

We began with an old design we had prototyped in our basements but then added a twist. Literally. We wanted to take advantage of the more powerful double-ended configuration bulbs now available, but traditional connectors require two hands and are awkward and fragile, so we designed a new ‘roll-lock’ lamp connection system that requires only one hand to install a new lamp. The ILUMINAR 750W/600W DE offers the most sophisticated technology. Integrated the first of its kind, single-handed “roll-lock” socket that means- simple lamp installation. The ILUMINAR Wide Reflector allows fixtures to be mounted closer to the top of the canopy and is designed for lower ceilings. The reflector was designed to have a wider pattern of light around the 36” to 48” area spreading emitted light across the garden.

Double Ended (DE) HPS grow lamps are typically used by commercial growers with large spaces and high ceilings. DE HPS grow lights produce higher intensities of light due to the design, construction and internal pressures of the arc tube (light generating source). The physical design and shape of the DE grow bulb provides a consistent positioning of the light source allowing reflector manufacturers to optimize the focus and footprint of light over the plant canopy.

The Nanolux DE Chill is the first DE commercial overlap fixture of its type on the market.  The DE Chill is designed with an onboard ballast, is air cooled, and comes NCCS APP-ready. The air-cooled design removes up to 60% of heat load in grow facility environments. This greatly reduces the air conditioning required to maintain the growing environment at desired temperatures. The fully enclosed design uses an optical quality glass lens which only reduces light output by 6%. This 6% reduction is easily offset by the ability to lower your lights closer to your plants and therefore raising light intesities far above 20%.  If left at the same height, one would only require 104 lights in a facility which would regularly require 100 open-style DE lights. The 4000W required to run the 4 additional lights and the small wattage draw for exhaust fans is minor compared to the savings from lower electrical consumption required to AC the growroom.
